Example for TXT files

The macro below will copy every txt file that you select with GetOpenFilename to your workbook.
If you select ten txt files in the folder then you end up with 10 new worksheets in
your workbook. Each worksheet will have the name of the txt file.

Note: you can hold the CTRL key if you want to select more files or use the Shift key to select
a block of files in GetOpenFilename. Tip: With Ctrl a you select all files in the folder.

I did not use all the properties for QueryTables in my macro because a lot of them are already
what I want by default. If you don’t get the results you want then record a macro when you
perform the action manually.
Then look at the recorded code and add the code lines to the macro Get_TXT_Files.

Copy all code in a normal module of your workbook

Alt F11
Insert Module
Paste the code
Alt q to go back to Excel
Alt F8 to open the macro dialog
Select the macro and press Run

This example is for Delimited txt files, see the example below this macro for FixedWidth
Read the information in the macro Get_TXT_Files before you try the macro.
Maybe you want to use a different delimiter or change the format of a column.

Example 1

Merge all data from the csv files into a text file

Note: with a few small changes you can also use this for txt files. Replace *.csv for *.txt

1) Windows Start Button | Run
2) Type cmd and hit enter (“command” in Win 98)
3) Go to the folder with the CSV files (for help enter “help cd“)
4) Type copy *.csv all.txt and hit enter to copy all data in the files into all.txt.
5) Type exit and hit enter to close the DOS window

Now we must import the text file all.txt into Excel.

1) Open Excel
2) When you use File Open to open all.txt the Text Import Wizard will help you import the file
3) Choose Delimited
4) Next
5) Check Comma
6) Finish

Example 2

This code will ask you to browse to the folder with the csv files and after you click OK in this dialog
it merge all data into a txt file and then import and save it into a Excel file for you.

Copy the code below into a normal module of a workbook :

Alt-F11
Insert>Module
Paste the macro
Alt q to go back to Excel
Alt F8 to open your macro list
Select Merge_CSV_Files and press Run

There is no need to change anything in the code example for csv files to test it.
But read the Tips below the macro if you not get the result you want.

Delete bash history

To delete the bash history for your current session as well as old sessions, you should do two things:

Delete the .bash_history file:

# rm -rf ~/.bash_history

Clear the current history stored in RAM:

# history -c

Stop writing to .bash_history for good

If you don’t want to log any history for good, you can do one of two things; turn it off for all users, or turn off logging history for a single user.

Turn off bash history for all users:

Append “unset HISTFILE” to /etc/profile:

# echo "unset HISTFILE" >> /etc/profile

Turn off bash history for a specific user:

Append “unset HISTFILE” to /home/USER/.bash_profile:

# echo "unset HISTFILE" >> /home/USER/.bash_profile

That’s it! Now you have successfully deleted the bash history and stopped logging to bash history.

The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (usually known by its abbreviation, GSLV) is an expendable launch system operated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It was developed to enable India to launch its INSAT-type satellites into geostationary orbit and to make India less dependent on foreign rockets.

A geostationary orbit (GEO) is a geosynchronous orbit directly above the Earth‘s equator (0° latitude), with a period equal to the Earth’s rotational period and an orbital eccentricity of approximately zero. From locations on the surface of the Earth, geostationary objects appear motionless in the sky, making the GEO an orbit of great interest to operators of communications and weather satellites. Due to the constant 0° latitude and circularity of geostationary orbits, satellites in GEO differ in location by longitude only.
